Fasting Plans

Tips For a Productive Fast

Whether fasting for a day or a month, fasting has moved God to work miraculously on behalf of those who’ve denied their flesh to seek His Spirit. Below are tried and true tips to receive and recognize responses to your requests.

  1. Be intentional – Understand why you are fasting. It should be your focus, centering your posture as you fast and pray.
  2. Fast from media – Try to avoid ingesting and engaging with television, music, books, and social media that aren’t conducive to communion with the Holy Spirit. If you seek a Holy God earnestly, you’ll be able to discern if something is inappropriate. Be strong and obey that gut feeling.
  3. Devote at least an hour to seeking God daily – You will feel the difference as you push past the physical into the spiritual. Here’s a great format that makes it easier to spend more time in prayer.
  4. Eat the Bible for lunch – If you have a set time you eat lunch, or if you work and have a set lunch break, get alone, then pray, praise and worship for at least 10 minutes, and read the bible.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4
